I haven't been fishing in Stuart for a few months. But yesterday I went out, and what I saw make me sick. We put the boat in at SandPrit Park ram. It was an outgoing tide. The water was so dark and murky. I saw dead cat fish were floating every where. Imagine if the cat fish can't live in that water I don't know what could. We went out to the St Lucie inlet and the water quality there is the same. So we ran to Joe's point in the Indian river. The water there look a little better. After a few hours of fishing, we then went to the Power Plant and fish there for another two hours. We did not catch anything. Thinking that the fishing would pick up once the tide change, we waited patiently. But our effort didn't pay off once we saw what the incoming tide brought with it. All that water we saw in the St. Lucie river are now coming into the Indian river. It looked like a sewage. Needless to say we didn't even get a bite. I live in Ft. Lauderdale, and it's a lot of effort to travel all the way up to Stuart to fish. But that effort didn't pay off because both the St Lucie and Indian river is contaminated. I love to fish in the Indian river. Some of my biggest snooks and Black drums were caught there. It's a d**n shame what the water management people are doing to the river ( they are raping it). Sadly to say, but I am not going to fish in the Indian river any more. Unless the water quality is better.

I agree. Big money, The Army Corps of eng. & South FL Water Management really made a mess. I live only mile from the Snook Nook and I gave up fishing!! for now.

Well, that is not good news. I was planning on making a trip this coming weekend, 7/29 - 8/1. and I live in South Ga. If it doesn't clear up by then, I would appreciate a heads up by anyone if its not too much trouble. I hate to make a six hour trip if the conditions don't change. I have gone a few times in the past several years, only to arrive and find similar conditions. The water did however clear with a few tide changes. Thanks in advance for any reports.

Yeah Bohawg, things have not been great. However, I am optimistic that things are slowly starting to clear up. I have heard some pretty good reports as far as the inshore scene goes. I may try to go in the morning and wade a spot on Hutchinson Island at first light. The offshore scene is still spotty. Lots of bonita!!! I'll post again if I make it out there tomorrow...
