Well, I woke up this morning at 5:30, stopped by Dunkin Donuts and headed down to Hutchinson Island. Got there just after day break, and noticed a few pelicans working a bait school and figured that was a good place to start. After throwing a chug-bug for about twenty minutes with no hits, I decided to throw the net a few times. I loaded my bucked with about 20 medium sized Menhayden and trucked them across the road to the beach side. Well, my bait died within about 10 minutes but at least I had some fresh cut bait. Armed with a Baitrunner and 80lb flourocarbon, I had my first hook-up after about a twenty minute wait. Pretty sure it was a shark, and after about a 5 minute fight, he broke the line. I would guess he was about 4 feet plus. After that, I got nothing for about an hour. So I again switched sides and went back to the river armed with the trusty gold sthingy. I hit 2 or 3 spots with no action at all. The one thing I immediately noticed this morning was the smell. The tide was going out and it literally smelled like sewage. I also noticed quite a few blue crabs as I waded which made me think there should be redfish in there feeding on them but I saw no signs of feeding fish this morning. Things looked pretty grim down there this morning. I hadn't been fishing out there for a while and after this morning, I don't think I will go back there untill a later date. So thats it boys, I hope some you can get out there and prove me wrong but for now, I am giving the river a D-......
